We thought we would give our readers an update as what is alternative provision. While how going online for alternative provision is a good solution for many of the alternative provision solution. A number of our exam clients are either in alternative provision or have been in alternative solution.

The AP Academy works with young people who fall into risk groups. Including:

  • excluded from mainstream schools or Pupil Referral Units (PRUs)

  • are at risk of exclusion

  • have a poor attendance record

  • are currently underperforming and who are not expected to achieve 5 A*-C GCSEs

  • are returning from out of county specialist placements

  • Sports or high talent achievers

  • NEETS - not in education, employment or training

  • Risk of becoming a NEET

have complex social, emotional and/or mental health needs (SEMH) have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)

Pupils AP Academy Support

AP Academy has worked with over 1,500 pupils each year with a range of needs. Here are just some of the needs we meet:

Anxiety Disorders - Can be a long-term school refusal by pupils. AP Academy’s online alternative provision fills the gap.

Behavioural challenges: AP Academy woks with schools and local authorities providing exclude children learning solutions from day 1 of exclusion. We work with PRUs, independent learning providers and location authorities from temporary to full time exclusion.

School Refusers: The Increasing number of pupils who refuse going into school for a wide range of reasons. Increasingly includes bullying victims and complex medical condition. AP Academy provides the sympathetic solution to fill the gap.

Medical Needs: AP Academy's flexibility is at our core. Providing short to long term learning delivery to ensure pupils continue learning. In spite of any health issues and where they are.

Young people in care: AP Academy works with the virtual school provider throughout boroughs. Providing continuity at a time of often fast changing periods.

Teenage Mothers: AP Academy work at every stage of pregnancy and beyond as they begin parenthood.
