Music GCSE includes Decks

It has been confirmed that exams taken on music CD decks will be grade certified.

The music deck, with CDs spinning and a jockey. is now part of the GCSE Music options as an instrument.

We at the Exam House strongly believe in giving GCSEs breadth. While allowing others to skip it. So this development is an excellent one.

FutureDJs, a music duo pushed for the inclusion of CD desks in the Music GCSE qualifications, with the London College of Music Examiners, who published the syllabus. Who then allowed and offered grading for the GCSE qualification.

Until now, GCSE exam candidates had to access to the full music GCSE. With a written component.

Previously, Students had to take the full music GCSE, with a written exam. Questioning and challenging their understanding of music, performance, and composition.  AQA and Eduqas previously adapted the existing exam format to include DJing on a looser format. While OCR jumped a step further and when specialist qualification in 2019.

They OCR opened up their repertoire to include music performing of rapping and MCs for their GCSE and A-Level qualification. Adding a ‘My Music’ section of the GCSE or A level exam. Giving the exam candidates to challenge to focus on their chosen genres and styles..
