Our guidance for private candidates - Letter
We are emailing you about the options available to private candidates for this summer’s exam series (June 2020), in light of the current situation.
The following options are taken from guidance sent to the exam centre.
Option A: an objective judgement has to be made about the students achievement. In this instance, the head of the centre and staff at the centre have to see sufficient evidence of the students achievement before submitting the grade. This evidence can be taken from previous schools or education institutions. However if the head of the centre feels that there is not sufficient evidence, we may ask the candidate to sit one or more mock exams.
Option B: where there is not enough evidence, the candidate may sit the exam(s) in the November 2020 exam series. It should be noted that although The Exam House and BYT Chesham will do their utmost to support all our candidates through this stressful period, we are a relatively new exam centre and the exam boards may feel that we do not have enough authentic evidence to support the grades submitted.
In such an event, the candidates would be required to sit the exam(s) in the November 2020 exam series. It should also be noted that any evidence supplied to the exam centre should be authentic and is the responsibility of the candidate.
