The future of access arrangements
Discussing this morning for the exam blog. We had the privilege to discuss access arrangements with Stavroula Alachiotis-Merchant. A dyslexia and access arrangements assessor.
Stavroula believes in general the whole education system needs to change. Schools are too dry, do not look forward to the changes that are going on with technology of learning. So too with the access arrangements.
While you can give an access arrangement assessment through face time or zoom. it seems not right you cannot test a candidate through the same mechanism. There should be a way forward for computer based GCSE or A level exams.
There are some challenges with confidentiality and verification which can be overcome.
With computer based exams these are the very essence of improved access arrangements.
