Amanda spielman Ofsted radio 4 today exams

On the 11 Nov, Amanda Spielman, chief inspector of OFSTED went onto Radio 4 today programme to discuss why there is a need to continue to have exams.

Amanda speaks a whole lot of sense. The chaos of last year summer’s exams .With the mis management from Ofqual and the department of education completely missed the point of why we have exams. They could have easily pushed exams back while still have them in school. Pupils had months to revise for them and get learning support from their school. It would have been a much better solution. Finally someone on the tax payers pay roll comes out and speaks some sense around GCSE and A level exams. Why this narrative wasn’t promoted at the point where exams could have been saved in the summer of 2020 shows what a mess Ofqual are in. It takes Ofsted to make it clear why we have exams in the first place.

The short interview on amanda spielman radio 4 today programme. Exams are the best way to both motivate learning, test learning and grade candidates.
