GCSE English Literature for AQA (8702)

Ofqual has decided that GCSE English Literature exams next summer will have smaller amount of English GCSE subject content. As an AQA exam Centre we keep an eye on what is coming up in 2021.

GCSE English Literature for AQA (8702) exams will only questions on three out of four content areas. The topics for all exam candidates will be Shakespeare and Poetry (both anthology and unseen). exam candidates will then answer a question on one of the remaining two content areas choosing between:

  • 19th century novel

or

  • Modern text.

There are no changes to the format of the AQA GCSE English Literature questions and assessment criteria.

This means exam candidates will be asked to complete the similar task types and display the same skills as usual.
