Gcse online exams are coming

The Exam Blog believes that a number of GCSE and A level exams should where possible be done digitally.

Finally the first exam qualification assessment board has broken ranks and confirmed it will be the first to offer gcses via a computer.

The Welsh Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation that oversees exams in Wales, said qualifications must be fit-for-purpose in a "fast-moving world".

"It doesn't seem right if children spend most of their life using technology and then once or twice a year they have to go back to do traditional examinations that are at least 50 years old," said Mr Jones.

there are plenty of mistakes in going digital. Last May, the WJEC exam board had to apologise after a "technical issue" affected pupils taking a GCSE computer science exam.

Here at Exam house we have blogged about this in the past and it being part of the future of exam taking in the UK. We are optimistic how this can improve quality and Access to exams.
