Maud Millar AQA Examiner
Having a chat with Maud Millar, (https://www.linkedin.com/in/maudmillar/) a former AQA GCSE and A level examiner. Maud goes on to discuss the challenges of exams. Especially in light of the lack of schooling now schools have shut.
Maud: ‘We have to think about other forms of assessment. Reduce the heavy reliance on exams. Eg. Modular exams, more opportunties for portfolio, more project based learning. ‘
Further, Maud says : ’GCSE are good internal progress, and shouldn't impact on the stage after A level .They should be ignored after A level .We should scrap the GCSE requirement at UCAS application time.’
In other blogs we feel that GCSEs could be better resolved with computer based solutions. Removing the binary of choices fo taking exams at certain times of the year. We agree with Maud. GCSEs should not impact university application.
