The future of secondary school GCSE and A level exam taking

The Exam house is investigating a number of ways the exam taking experience around GCSEs and A levels will change for seco

ndary school pupils.

Both for entrance to the schools, such as the 11 plus and GCSE and A level.

Here is my short youtube video on it.

There is a lot of pressure of exam boards to be adaptable while providing a quality service to schools and exam centres.

This corono Virus has brought into focus the large operation that the boards have to undertake every time the exam seasons come around. While maintaining integrity in the exam sitting, getting the exam marks correct. and true and maintaining a time table worthy of any military operation. The exam boards are serious operators.

Nearly of this depends on the schools ability to put on exams. With the secondary schools the weak point for the exams.

The waves of change that happen within schools such as the change from comprehensive to Acadamistation means more streamlined, more efficiently run schools perhaps leaves out the wider more comprehensive approach to all pupils. Leaving a gap for GCSE and A level pupils who are not well serviced with the process. Here is a previous blog.

Reducing candidates opportunities to sit exams and eventually not taking the exams at all is a real danger in management of exams. The exam house will continue to find ways which the GCSE and A levels in schools can improve access . Both by being an exam centre while campaigning for change in the exam industry in the UK.
